Business & Leadership Ethics

-- Quote of the Day --

"We find greatest joy, not in getting, but in expressing what we are...Men do not really live for honors or for pay; their gladness is not the taking and holding, but in doing, the striving, the building, the living. It is a higher joy to teach than to be taught. It is good to get justice, but better to do it; fun to have things but more to make them. The happy man is he who lives the life of love, not for the honors it may bring, but for the life itself."

-- Businesses Making a Difference --

Yesterday we featured a discussion on how businesses can make a difference with their work, their purchasing habits and their actions in their community... I'd like to follow up on this by celebrating yet another business that cares about the planet and works very hard to make in-house decisions that affect us all in a positive way:

Kudos to Zukes.com who has produced a healthy dog treat that is made with 100% Wind Power and the packaging itself is created out of 100% recycled paperboard, but is also reduced in size and filled with more treats so that there is about 20% less packaging per box than their competitors. They also have an in-house program where they pay their employees to “leave the car at home and ride their bikes or scooters to work instead. Their offices too are powered by 100% green electricity and to top it off they also donate to the dccfund.org; which works with animals with cancers. This organization is yet another hero to celebrate - as they work directly with vets to help needy families get the necessary treatment for pets suffering from cancer, they also offer grants to help scientists conduct research, and they promote prevention via education programs.
