Individual Heroes

-- Quote of the Day --

"Let how you live your life stand for something,
No matter how insignificant it may seem"

~ Jodie Foster

Dave and I have done a lot of traveling this year, taking day trips to surrounding communities to spread awareness of our work and distribute bookmarks, etc... And during these trips I noticed some wonderful things.

One day we were driving along a highway that ran through Nelson, a city in the Kootenay region of BC, and I noticed this woman was walking along the highway with a plastic bag strung on her arm like a purse. Occasionally, she would stop to pick up a piece of garbage by the curb or on the sidewalk area. It was wonderful to see - yet another conscious living hero making a difference.

There is another community known as Creston, which has a very high percentage of volunteers that have done amazing things over the years. The shear number of green areas, sitting areas, and parks are impressive - many of these are either maintained or were founded by volunteers. The city's downtown core has a large number of scenic murals that not only feature the area's incredible diversity and highlights activities that might be had - it also beautifies the downtown area, taking away from the cold brick-and-mortar look of most town centers.
