http://savethefrogs.com/day

Frog populations have been declining worldwide at unprecedented rates, and up to 200 species have completely disappeared in recent decades. In an effort to raise awareness of the plight of frogs, the scientific community has declared April 28th, 2009 the 1st Annual 'Save The Frogs Day'. Please get involved and help spread the word! Save The Frogs Day is a perfect time for teachers and students to focus on amphibian conservation, learn about amphibian extinctions, and discuss ways that we can all contribute to amphibian conservation efforts.

When a tire is recycled, we see rubber, steel, fiber and sometimes fuel as resulting materials. Recycled tires are a wonderful and desirable material for companies who create soaker hoses for irrigating gardens and landscaping or roofing tiles, curb stops, and mats for playgrounds or industrial applications. The residuals of the tire recycling industry are often sent to waste to energy plants or bio-refineries. According to Recycling Product News magazine, tire recycling residuals might provide a solution to oil and gas spills – tire fibers from the recycling industry have been incorporated into a special filter that has proven to be effective at soaking up the waste from these types of spills. The used filter is then steamed, to remove excess water or soil, and is then used as a replacement for sand and gravel in the production of a lightweight concrete product that can be colored and pre-cast into many different finishes for a variety of applications.
